    Biography

Born in Louisiana, but have lived a long portion of my life in South Texas, which I enjoy very much, even when it doesn't rain for 437 months in a row.

Apart from writing, I still enjoy reading, though – oddly – I read far less fiction than I used to, and have found history (American, English, Ancient) very compelling lately. I’m an avid PC Gamer with a fondness for FPS and TPS games as well as strategy/action games. Curiously, I have pretty much ZERO interest in MMOs (Quick note to MMO lovers: my lack of interest should in no way be perceived as an indictment of the genre. I willingly and happily agree there are a bunch of excellent MMOs out there. They’re just not for me.)

I love 80s pop music without apology. I also love rock and roll from the 70s through today (though I like fewer and fewer new artists … because I’m old). Notable bands I enjoy (in no order) Rush, The Cars, The Killers, Blue October, Tom Petty, The Police, The Pogues, The Who, Jason Mraz, Interpol.

Addictions: Coke Zero, television shows Doctor Who and Top Gear, Sour Patch Kids candy.

I have an irrational fear of marionettes and ventriloquist dummies. Seriously.

I currently live just outside San Antonio with my family and assorted pets, and am rapidly brining the second Denton Rourke novel to its completion.

    Inspiration

I really like the classic, hard-nose detectives of like Marlowe and Spade, but also love Nick and Nora Charles from Daschielle Hammett's, The Thin Man.

I really wanted to bring a little more fun to the mystery genre, and my humor has always run to the quirky side (Monty Python, Dudley Moore, Dave Barry, Eddie Izzard, Douglas Adams). Their brilliance certainly helped build my framework for "funny" growing up.
