Biography
People ask how I got started as a computer consultant. The story is always the same: I got interested in computers because they had an Escape key. How bad could it be? Well, eleven years later I'm enjoying my consulting practice, and also finding time for freelance writing and promoting both my books. Because technology is so important for authors and the internet is such a boom for marketing, I'm serving as publishing adviser to many clients around the country.
Inspiration
I'm always inspired by a positive attitude, and enjoy people who don't give up. The writers I admire include Julia Cameron, Elizabeth Gilbert, Nicole Hollander, Pico Iyer, Nuala O'Failian and Paul Theroux - an eclectic mix. When I first started freelancing, I wrote what I knew: business and technology. But having success with non-fiction books, essays and travel, I know the world is open to us, for writing in print, and of course, on blogs.
