Biography

Heather McAlendin was born in St. Catharines, Ontario but spent her childhood and most of her adult years in the beautiful northern city of Timmins, Ontario. Heather's mother and grandmother instilled the love of books in her at a very early age; her grandfather was a wonderful weaver and teller of stories. After many years of pursuing other career avenues, Heather finally decided to follow her dreams and her heart and take a great leap of faith by entering the publishing world. She now resides in Toronto, Ontario with her family, and dog Zissou. Heather is an up and coming author who spends her time with a variety of artistic pursuits, especially writing adult fiction.

Inspiration

I have many inspirations but the two who stand out most for me would be my grandparents. Both are deceased but I spent a great deal of childhood and young adult life with them. My grandfather had a saying that has stuck with me, "You never know until you try." I have taken that to heart. My grandparents both had a passion for living, loving and celebrating life. They were some of the first people to introduce me to reading and the joy of books. For that I will be eternally grateful. Inspiration as a whole can come from anyone and anywhere at anytime. It is up to the writer to recognize what inspires them most and follow that inspiration; act on it. Life is a blank page...start writing.
