    Look and Listen

    Biography

I'm a lifelong Arizonan. Astronomy and Asian foreign films, especially action-packed martial arts films, fascinate me. I grew up on the Colorado River Indian Tribes reservation and attended high school at a mission boarding school on the Navajo reservation - two places rich with stories and superstitions. I attended Arizona State University and the University of Arizona, where I received a B.A. and a M.A. in Elementary Education. I love to laugh, to be around funny people, and I love to hear and tell stories, as well as read them. I love stories of the supernatural.

    Inspiration

My childhood and culture inspires me to write. Story telling has always been a natural event in my life. High school was the fabulous. My classmates and schoolmates were Native American students from all over the Southwest and West. They told the best ghost stories, the superstitions of their families and people. But mainly, I'm inspired to write to give Native American young adults and teens a voice, where the main character or characters could be them, where they could tell the story from the Indian perspective. SHADOW HUNTER is told by a 17-year-old Native American girl who destroys dark entities. Falling Stars is told by a doctor's son, a white boy, who then draws in the Native American characters.
