Biography

Single mom, late forties. I am Irish, but moved to the Netherlands in the mid 80's. I love to paint, and have a promotional site for my work at www.art-HanGer.com and when I am not doing this I am writing, and publishing my own work. I also write articles on the Writing Process to help others who struggle to put that first sentence onto the page and maintain their stamina through all the insecurities that pop up along the way. Check it out at www.geraldinenesbitt.com I also am a keen film goer, and last year followed a course at the University of Amsterdam on intermedia, where I learned more about adaptation, and various film and cinematographic techniques that help a written text translate well onto the stage or screen. Angels in America was my favourite adaptation (from stage to TV).

Inspiration

Al Pacino in Looking for Richard. Ann Lamott - Bird by Bird. And on a deeper level I try to integrate the teachings of Gary Zukav and Eckhart Tolle into my life (not always and easy thing) Loved the Kite Runner, btw. When I started writing, a long time ago, now, my inspiration was Maeve Binchy. She captured an atmosphere simply by sticking to down to earth story lines and everyday occurances written in easy to follow language.
