    Biography

Writing has always been Felisha Bradshaw’s safe haven. The pen took her places where she could be whomever she needed to be, giving her a voice when she thought she didn’t have one. Bradshaw’s life has been challenging. Her battle with narcolepsy resulted in struggling through school and later struggling to maintain gainful employment. Ultimately, she defied the odds and went on to earn an Associate degree in Science from Housatonic Community College. Through it all, the pen has been her constant companion. Whether crafting poems or short stories, writing has remained what she calls her “winter wonderland”. Bradshaw wrote her debut Urban novel, Eyes on the Pryze, hoping to open the eyes of young adults and enlighten parents to the challenges faced by inner city youth. In addition to the prerequisites of Urban Fiction, Eyes on the Pryze is sprinkled with lesbian erotica. Bradshaw says, “I wanted to let society as a whole see that [lesbians] have a voice and a strong presence in our communities. We are not hiding under the rainbow. We have our own views on life, street life and relationships.” According to Bradshaw, “I wrote Eyes on the Pryze in sixty-three days, and on the sixty-fourth day I rested.” She is currently expanding the novel into a trilogy, and hopes the messages in her writing touch just one person. Additionally, the 38-year-old writer is presently working toward a Bachelor degree in Psychology. She intends to become a Psychologist with a focus on teens with sexual dysfunctions, and to help gay teens who struggle with their identity. When not writing or studying, Bradshaw makes her home in Bridgeport, CT with her life partner and their three children.

    Inspiration

It has always been my chldhood dream to write a novel after reading my first poem by Maya Angelou; Phenomimal Woman. Later in life, I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy; which caused a great financial burden on my household income. I decided to put my passion in print to serve as an extra income.
