A speeding ticket, an interest in barbershop harmony, the Cold War, and chance encounters with the president and Pope John Paul II, intersect to start the protagonists on the road to holy matrimony.

    Biography

I was born the middle child, to a middle class family, in middle America. My youth was a pretty idyllic, if undistinguished, "Beaver Cleaver" existence. That is until I stepped out of my comfort zone and accepted my uncle's offer to travel behind the "Iron Curtain" to Poland in 1975. There I met my future wife. Now, more than thirty years later, I have recorded for posterity many of the details of our introduction and courtship. I trust you will be entertained, and that the story will stir your own recollections of days gone by. It is part adventure, part travelogue, part nostalgia, and part love story. I live in Des Moines, Iowa, where I am an owner in a Wealth Management practice. This is my initial literary effort. I hope you will enjoy it.

    Inspiration

My wife, Ewa (pronounced as Eva, with a short "e") has served as the title character and inspiration for my book. However, the motivation was provided by our son. After sitting through our abridged response (for what, I am certain, was at least the five hundredth time) to the "How did you two meet?" question posed by some new acquaintances, he challenged me to write the (with apologies to the late Paul Harvey) "rest of the story." I had just publicly announced a New Year's resolution to watch less television when he through down the gauntlet. A year later, I had completed the project. I confess to a certain self-satisfaction at having finished what I started, and to a minor ego rush with the unsolicited positive review. Thank you for taking the time. Respectfully, Tim Pratt
