Biography
E. DON HARPE, formerly of Nashville, now of Florida, is a songwriter, poet, and novelist. An Industrial Engineer by trade, Harpe has had a varied career, with occupations including call center manager, recording studio manager, and, as the owner of his own music publishing company, he has been fortunate to see many of his original songs published and recorded. Harpe was an active participant in many sports activities over the years, including fast pitch softball, basketball, water skiing, tennis and golf, and once entertained the idea of giving the pro bowlers tour a shot. Now retired, E. Don Harpe devotes his time to his family, and, when time permits, to writing his novels and short stories. Currently he is writing a series of fictionalized novels about the exploits of the infamous Harpe brothers, who happen to be in his own family history, and believes he is the first member of the Harpe family to write about them. Called America's First Serial Killers, the Harpes place in history has been well documented, and the new books refocus that history in fictionalized accounts. The first Harpe book, born Wolf, Die Wolf, the Last Rampage of the Terrible Harpes was published in February 2006. The second book in the series, Resurrection, Rebirth of the Terrible Harpes has just been published, and the third book is well under way. Harpe is the author of the popular Redneck Riviera series of short stories that were published in the Amazon Shorts program, and now has all of his works available on Amazon for the Kindle reader. He is currently working on making them avaiable in other ebook formats. In 2006/07, Harpe teamed with talented author Eugen M. Bacon, and the two of them were the Featured Authors on Amazon Shorts in January of 2007. Currently, their short stories are available on Fictionwise. Harpe's credits include stories published in EPPIE AWARD WINNING Double Dragon time travel anthology, Twisted Tails II, which includes stories by some of the best talent among the up and coming authors in science fiction today. With two new books set to debut in 2011 and early 2012, Harpe is well on the way to becoming one of the best known new authors on the scene today.
Inspiration
I was lucky enough to be born into a family that loved to read. I never knew a time when books and the daily newspaper were not present in our house, and I learned to read basic words before I turned three years old. From comic books and school books to the great masters and pulp ficition paperbacks, I devoured them all. My mother gave me a love of words and of writing, and my dad taught me that so long as I kept trying, anything was possible. My family and friends read the things I wrote and encouraged me to continue, and continue I did. I wrote poems and songs in high school, then saw some songs published and recorded, and when I craved more, I began writing the Harpe novels. I continue to be inspired by friends and by some of the most talented new authors who are on the market today. How could I be in the company of such individuals and not be inspired to grow as a writer and as a person? I count myself a lucky man, and one that has a lot more stories to tell, and the will to tell them.
