Biography
Donna Parker was born in the rural Missouri Ozarks during an ice storm. Despite some circumstantial evidence to the contrary, she did not grow up in the 1800s. The most important things in her life are her Christianity and her family. She loves books, both reading and writing them; old things and their histories; and music, especially Celtic and bluegrass fiddle music. She and her husband of over three decades currently live in Alabama. They have two adult sons.
Inspiration
My first inspirations? 1. Learning to write my name. When my mother first put a pencil into my hand and showed me that certain marks on paper conveyed ideas to other people, it opened up the world. 2. A fairy tale book my Aunt Edna gave me when I was six. Ever after I've believed that every story must contain at least the hope of a happy ending. What continues to inspire me? 1. God's word, the Bible. 2. My supportive family and friends. 3. The mysterious hills and hollows of the Missouri Ozarks. 4. A good fiddle tune. 5. Ozark and Celtic folklore.
