Biography
The Back Roads of a Reluctant Reader: When you're a kid afraid of reading and books and tests, you go the extra mile to keep it a secret. You study three-times longer. You smile when what you want to do is cry and hide behind the shrubs either side of the library door. You linger over exam questions, turning in your paper unsure you've answered correctly. Your IQ is above average, yet looking at a page of words is as daunting as making sense of a Picasso. The adult with childhood memories such as these has two choices: Keep hiding or start healing. A decision powerful enough to influence an individual’s life forever. I know. Firsthand. But unless you hear my story, YOU might never know it's possible for a reluctant reader to one day embrace every word like they were the first to discover it! You might give up on a boy who is struggling with his reading. You might not appreciate a girl who would rather read than do anything else. My co-written adult book, “WOOF: Women Only Over Fifty,” was instrumental in building my confidence as a reader and a writer. My children’s book, “Wendel Wordsworth: No Words for Wendel,” is my gift to those children traveling those same back roads I stumbled along. I hope people enjoy both books and, even more importantly, inspire at least one person every day to always take the high road in life.
