Biography
Born in a Boston suburb, I was raised in a Irish Catholic family. with all that entails. My home was a mixture of love and chaos, laughter and anger, but somehow it all worked. I became the first in my family to attend college, and completed my Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 1985. Marriage and children followed shortly thereafter. When I divorced in 1995, I was fortunate enough to retain custody of my two sons, then six and eight years old. The process of raisng two children on my own was the most amazing labor of love that I have ever known. Now fully grown young men, I am proud of what I was able to teach them, and grateful for all the taught me. My first published book, THE THRYCEAN GLASS, is a fairy tale/novella that I wrote for them when they were still young. Reading my own work to them as they sat beside me on a sofa was all I ever truly intended to do with the book. Now, many years later, friends and readers have encouraged me to publish it, because it is a story that begs to be shared.
Inspiration
The pain of my divorce was acute, and I retreated into writing as a way to both process and ease the suffering. As I look at what I have written now, it is obvious to me that it was a very therapeutic effort, allowing me to examine the decisions I had made in a clearer light.
