Biography

I grew up in a small town in the mid-west. I enjoyed spending equal time out in the woods and indoors. After graduating high school and attending several years of college, I moved to Arizona for flight training. 9/11/01 hit the aviation industry hard, leaving me with 1200 flight hours and not enough money to finish my flight ratings :( Following in most of my familie's footsteps, I entered the field of Law Enforcement. After spending many years as an Officer I decided to return to school full time and finish my Bachelors.... Oh, and write a novel :) www.drokgaranock.com

Inspiration

My love of fanstasy and sci-fi, in addition to drawing/painting, created a desire to write. Playing table-top RPG's such as D&D and Battletech (the great games from the 80's!) influenced my decision to write. Running a game is akin to writing multiple short stories for every game session. Great books such as the Sword of Truth Series, Battletech Novels, Dune series, Lord of the Rings have been stories I hold dear. Other influences include great movies such as Alien, Aliens, Princess Bride, Blade Runner and other great films. I have also been inspired by TV programs such as Babylon 5, Star Trek Next Gen, Highlander, Firefly, Farscape, Stargate SG-1/Atlantis, etc.
