Biography

I was born reading. From a very early age I invaded the local book mobile after school each week and consumed the entire contents of its shelves. Tasty! When I was old enough to leave the house alone, started in at the local library branch, taking in everything fiction, particularly in the science fiction and fantasy genres, but appreciating a good story in any genre. I also took to reading biographies, ancient history, art, scientific journals--you name it.
Wanting to follow in the footsteps of my favorite authors, I began to write short stories and even made a few attempts at epic-length novels. But being young and easily bemused, I put it aside and began to focus on a degree in literature and art history. On graduating I was fortunate to land a job teaching both writing and literature, which honed my skills and fueled my inspiration to begin writing again. So I got to work!
I currently live alone in a little house with a yard that needs trimming and with my two cats and two computers, and spend most of my time writing and being reclusive. My latest project is a multi-volume epic fantasy series entitled Omnigon.

Inspiration

I've probably been most influenced by the works and writing of J.R.R. Tolkien, T.H. White, C.J. Cherryh, and some of my favorite, classic authors like George Eliot and Charles Dickens.
