Biography
My name is Barrie David Corcoran. My pen name is Barrie David. I live close to nearby countryside in South Wales - UK with my wife Elly plus my dog, a coal black Lab called Bill - and two cats - Millie and Fonzie. I am semi retired and thoroughly enjoy doing major improvements to my house - playing my Harmonica - and striving at all times to be content. I love to write about human frailty and progression. For example - my daughter - who works in Hong Kong as a Doctor - recently stayed with us for three weeks. My two grandchildren Jack aged ten and Pheobe aged five were acutely apprehensive about my dog Bill - who is boisterous but harmless. By the time they left - under my careful guidence - not only were they well at ease with him - they were hand feeding the cows who roam the fields behind us and wander over to our garden wall for their daily treat. Jerry has posted an article I wrote called 'The broken Bond' onto his site and I am hopeful of making many new friends by registering with his NB site. Best wishes, Barrie.
Inspiration
My inspiration to write, especially in the last few years - has never waned - has never diminished - even though - like most other writers I've had more than my fair share of mainstream rejections. Writing - for me - is means of conveying my emotions - whether they be the depths of despair or falling down laughter. Whether they be cringing with fear or meeting fear head on. I have done both. The actor Kirk Douglas once said in a TV interview that everyone should write a book - that everyone has a story to tell and win - lose or draw - they should do it for the hell of it. Reflecting at length on his comment I think he was really saying there is no better way to cleanse the spirit than to set your feelings and experiences down on paper. I found this to be exactly the case when I wrote and then took receipt of my self published book. I honestly felt the same feelings I was writing about. I have recently completed - to first draft - my second book entitled 'Movie Idea'. It is a work of pure fiction inspired from my soldiering days when I awoke in the dead of night in a tent crawing with land crabs - but which were mistaken for Scorpions. I am receiving incredibly good feedback to date and positively marvel at how such a fleeting but hairy experience can be developed in a riviting good yarn and who knows - perhaps even - a movie idea...
