Andrew Marx
My friends think maybe I don't sleep but I do. It's just sometimes I will wake up in the middle of the night and need to take action! I am gripped by the possible hours lost, and there are many.

Biography

My first book was a memoir, What Do You Say To The DJ? co-written with Dara Shifrer. I honestly went through the entire drafting and editing process before it ever occurred to me that people would think it was a true story. It didn't dawn on me that I was putting my life out there for everyone to read about until we were already selling copies. I have spent my entire life fascinated with how we can tell stories through different mediums. Books are what I'm best at (my videos tend to be self-effacing and not a little juvenile). The written word gives me time to pick and choose words and sentences and construct out of them this kind of structure. I admire musicians greatly for being able to do that same thing with music. I just don't have the ear for it. I have written hundreds of articles in print and online newspapers under the Smart ReMarx moniker. My two blogs are smartremarx.com and concert-central.com. The latter is a concert review website. The former is all over the place but lately I have been writing about the process of writing and publishing. Taken for what it is, some of the advice is good. My latest title is fiction. Accidents Happen is being published this spring. I am working on both a fiction and a non-fiction project at this time.

Inspiration

Kurt Vonnegut and James Thurber - I'm kind of sad that neither one of them is around still to produce new writing. I love Margaret Atwood for being able to introduce you to people as if you've known them all your life. And Sherri Tepper for imaging unimaginable things on such a massive scale. Her books are never slim.
