Coal fields injustice in the fight for a worker's union. Accurate account of an important strike that affected over 200,000 miners and their families.
Wages are cut once again in the western Pennsylvania coalfields. John L. Lewis president of the United Mine Workers calls a massive strike; union workers walk away from their jobs. Workers in non-union captive mines like Russellton, 20 miles north of Pittsburgh, do the same in a show of solidarity. Thugs, thieves, and murderers in the guise of Coal and Iron Police, appointed by Pennsylvania's Governor Fisher, hold the Russellton coalfields in a siege of terror. They seize the miners’ property, evict families from their homes, and impose unconstitutional restrictions—beatings, rape, and murder. Welcome to the United States of America in 1927.
