Deep in The Whispering Woods beyond where the humans lived, was where the fairies lived. The Land of the Fairies was a beautiful place filled with flowers and a sparkling brook. All the fairies that lived there had a job to do to keep The Whispering Woods beautiful. The fairies also took care of all the animals in the Whispering Woods. All of the fairies worked very hard and were very proud of their work except for Lilac. Lilac spent her days dancing and singing instead of doing her work. After all Lilac is a fairy princess and shouldn't have to spend her days working when she could be having fun. Lilac's mother Marigold who is Queen Of the Fairies would tell Lilac that as fairy princess she needed to set a good example for her people. That Lilac is the one the rest of the fairies look to for guidance. Lilac and Marigold would often argue over Lilac not wanting to do her work. Marigold would tell Lilac it was her job to heal the animals of The Whispering Woods and to create beautiful butterflies to help the flowers grow. These arguments would always end the same with Lilac yelling how unfair it is and flying out. Marigold hoped that her daughter would learn to be responsible and do what she was supposed to do. If Lilac didn't start doing what was needed, Marigold feared what would become of The Whispering Woods when Lilac became queen. One day while Lilac was far way from home dancing close to where the humans roamed. Lilac enjoyed the danger of being so close to the humans, because she didn't like living in the shadows as a myth. But what Lilac didn't know is while she was gone the wicked troll queen Toadstool and her arm of mean trolls invaded fairy land. Toadstool hated anything beautiful and hated the fairies for making the world a beautiful place to live, except for in the swamps the trolls lived in. Toadstool hoped with the fairies out of the way the world would become one giant swamp for her to rule. What Toadstool didn't know is she didn't get all of the fairies. She was missing one fair fairy with lilac colored hair. When Lilac returned home at dusk she discovered that Fairy Land was a mess and everyone was gone down to the littlest fairy, Lilac's baby sister Poppy. Lilac didn't know what to do to help her people. She knew that only trolls could cause that much damage to Fairy Land. Lilc didn't know what she could do to save her people. What could one small fairy do against trolls? After a lot of thought Lilac remembered that she wasn't alone, there was a fairy named Raven that left fairy land. Raven wanted to explore the unexplored areas of The Whispering Woods. Raven ventured out on his own a few years ago but he shouldn't be hard for Lilac to find, since she knew him well. They were playmates when they were children. Luckily for Lilac she spent a lot of time sneaking off to restricted areas of The Whispering Woods to sing and dance so she had an idea of where to start looking. Lilac hurried to pack some food and nectar for the trip. Once Lilac was packed she set off on what would be an adventure of a life time that most fairies just dreamed of being a part of. Lilac traveled as far as she could that night and set up a small camp in a hole at the base of a mighty oak tree. While she worked on a plan to save her family she heard a rustling noise just outside of her shelter. Afraid of what might be outside she scooted back as far as she could into the shelter hoping she would be safe from what ever lurked outside. As the noise grew closer Lilac's heart started pounding so hard she thought it was going to jump right out of her chest. To Lilac's surprise she saw a light at the opening of the hole she was taking shelter in. What Lilac didn't know is Raven had spotted her an hour before and was following her to help keep her safe. When Lilac saw Raven she let out a little squeal of relief and started to tell him the trolls attacking Fairy Land. Lilac didn't know what she would do if Raven decided not to help her in her quest. To Lilac's suprise it wasn't hard for her to convince Raven to help her rescue the fairies. Once they had a plan and had eaten. Lilac and Raven spent the rest of the night talking like they did when they were children. Lilac was glad that Raven was still a great friend, but as they sat there talking Lilac became a little distracted by how handsome Raven had become in the years since she had last seen him. As the night wore on they grew tired. Raven and Lilac decided they should get a couple hours of sleep before setting off to save the fairies of Fairy Land. At dawn Raven and Lilac set off on their long journey to the swamps where Toadstool lived. At midday they stopped to have lunch and wonder how the rest of the fairies were being treated. As they sat there they realized The Whispering Woods was starting to suffer from the fairies not being there to take care of it. They would have to hurry to save the fairies before it was to late to save The Whispering Woods. Lilac was also starting to realize how important the fairies were. Lilac made a promise to herself that if they could save the rest of the fairies she was going to work harder to do her part even if it meant spending less time singing and dancing. At dusk Lilac and Raven arrived at the swamp where the trolls lived. They set up camp but with out a fire so they didn't alert the trolls of their presence. They planned to sneak into Toadstool's fortress at first light to rescue the rest of the fairies since the trolls were up roaming all night they would be tired at dawn. Plus if sunlight shines on a troll they turn to stone. After a meal of nuts and berries Lilac and Raven tried to relax and get some rest to prepare for dawn but were unable to get comfortable being so close to the nasty swamp the trolls live in. So they talked to pass the time. As dawn approached they prepared to carry out their plan but before they could get into the fortress they heard a group of trolls talking about how they couldn't wait until Toadstool started making stew out of those pesky fairies. Lilac and Raven knew they had to hurry to save the rest of the fairies because their time was growing short. Getting into Toadstool fortress was easier than they thought it would be, they found a crack in the wall large enough for them to slip through. After an hour of searching they were able to locate the kitchen area where Toadstool was keeping the fairies in an old bird cage until she was ready to start her stew. Lilac thought she was going to faint at the sight of the fairies in the cage and a stew pot bubbling on the fire. Lilac knew that her and Raven were the fairies only hope. SO she had to be strong for them. Raven went to work on the cages lock while Lilac looked around the kitchen for something for to arm themselves with. To Lilac's surprise she found a weapons hold with weapons in every size as well as a secret escape tunnel. When Lilac got back to the kitchen Raven just got the cage unlocked. She told him what she found and all the fairies rushed to the weapons hold to arm themselves before fleeing through the tunnel. Half way through the tunnel Lilac got an idea to help drive the trolls away to prevent this from happening again. With all the fairies and their magic they would be able to transform the dirty, smelly swamp in to a beautiful extension of The Whispering Woods. They all worked very hard turning the swamp in to a beautiful lake surrounded by flowers and trees. As Toadstool's fortress transformed in to a grassy knoll over looking the lake you could hear Toadstool's screams of outrage. The trolls all ran away to escape the beauty the fairies were creating. Unfortunately for the trolls the sun was out turning them all to stone. It took several weeks for the fairies to restore their village to its former glory. The Whispering Woods was able to recover quickly from their absence becoming even more beautiful than it had been because Lilac was now doing her part. Once the village was rebuilt the fairies had a huge celebration to celebrate the marriage of Lilac and Raven. Marigold was never so proud of her daughter and she never worried about Lilac ruling Fairy Land again. The fairies all lived happily ever after! The End
