Journey to Tracer's Point is a story of a family's determination to survive an overland journey from Virginia to California during the gold rush.
In the spring of 1849, John Anderson arrives in Virginia from California with a well-laid plan. He convinces his brother, Alexander Anderson, to join him in an adventure . . . a quest for gold. Alexander, longing to be away from farming, sells all of his belongings and heads west with his family for a better life, riches beyond his wildest dreams. Heavy hearted and forced to make the perilous wagon journey over the Oregon Trail, Caroline Anderson dreads the trip, the challenges, and hardships that await her. Through the loss of her family, Caroline fights to survive against the elements and the unknown. Alone and afraid of what lies ahead, she must decide the path for her future . . . go back to Virginia or forward to confront her brother-in-law for her husband’s share of the claim.
