Description

The assassination of the king of Yugoslavia in 1934 and the chaos that was to follow signaled the time for the six Popovic brothers to escape the country they loved but could no longer survive. With the prospect of getting caught and sent to a consentration camp or to fight on the Russian front, the brothers pairs up to walk, ride and run out of Croatia. In their haste one of the pairs stowed away on a ship bound for China. Facing life-threatening road blocks as varied as their paths to freedom the brothers experience brutality, discrimination, disillusionment, death and love along the way to what they hope is a better place. The book is based on a true story.
