Pilgrimage to Heresy: Don´t Believe Everything They Tell You by Tracy Saunders
Pilgrimage to Heresy: Don´t Believe Everything They Tell You by Tracy Saunders
With every year that passes, the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela gains more and more attention. Last year alone, a million souls planted their boots on the Camino along the way to visit St. James in Compostela, and fir the first time, the majority were not Spanish but came from all over the globe to pay their respects.
But what if he isn´t there? What if he never was?
Pilgrimage to Heresy is a "Novel of the Camino" which dares to ask the unthinkable: what if the occupant of the sepulchre in Compostela were none other than a bishop named Priscillian who was executed on grounds of "heresy and witchcraft" by the Romans with not only the knowledge but the approval of many of the church members themselves?
Pilgrimage to Heresy is a "time shift" novel in the tradition of Labyrinth but with shades of Paolo Coelho as we follow the pilgrims on their journey and share in their joys and misgivings. In particular, we meet Miranda, an untenured professor of philosophy from the University of Toronto who finds herself in possession of a forbidden and potentially very dangerous book. As she is drawn closer and closer to its mystery, her life becomes more and more intertwined with that of Priscillian himself.
A religious injustice...two love stories, one doomed from the start...and a mystery...
