I am so delighted that you decided to join this group. I see this as a supportive environment to share research resources and information.
We all know that the best historical fiction is couched in facts; a well-researched story will grab your reader quicker than just about anything else. Those who are history buffs will notice the attention to detail and appreciate your work that much more.
So, let's help each other craft the best possible stories.
Thanks again for your consideration.
I so know what you mean! I started a series that is historical/mythological/fiction, the stories are based on recorded events, myths and legends but I added a modern character who travels to the past. Plenty of research involved to get as much truth into the story as possible. The first is called Terth Willager: Age of Mythology and is soon going to Indi Publishing for editing and marketing.

My wife is a huge romance fan and keeps bugging me to find some good romances for AKW Books to publish in eBook format.
We've got science fiction coming out of our ears along with several other categories of fiction and non-fiction, but well-written romance seem to elude us.
Can anyone give me an idea where to go to find top-notch romance writers who might be interested in our little corner of the industry?
AKW Books, eBooks in all genres
Hello! Great to see a group devoted to this topic. I have written a historical romance (AKA paranormal romance) novel that has just been released through PublishAmerica. It's been fabulous to see how much interest there is in this genre.
I would love to read (review if interested) any of your books, if available.
Also - do any of you know of any historical fiction conventions or fairs coming up in the fall?

I'm delighted to have found this spot! I write "sweet" Regency romances (my inspiration is Georgette Heyer). I have one published as an ebook, with two more due out soon. I know this isn't the most popular genre, but if anyone is interested, I'd be happy to point you to my website, where you can see a synopsis and excerpt.
Now I'll quit the shameless self-promotion and say that I'm glad to meet all of you.

I've been a member for a while, but haven't been active. My bad!
I write historical fiction about Texas. That series, "T'on Ma" has three books in it and I'm glad to say the series is done, and has been well received.
There is a possibility that the first book will be translated to German next year (2011) and I am excited!
Hope this board picks up with activity as I'm sure we all have a lot to share and a lot of support to give.
Onward!

I have a couple of acquaintances who are romance writers, and a common complaint I hear is that every time they have an idea for a new project, the Publisher twists their arm to make it into a trilogy AND have all three books done in a rather short time period.
Perhaps working under that kind of pressure takes its toll on the quality of one's writing? Not to mention the fact that the book covers nearly always HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PLOT OR ANY HISTORICAL RELEVANCE.
Greetings forum creatures.
I'm California-bred writer/journalist based in Brooklyn, NY. For fun, I started a long-term creative writing project/novella for fun. It's 20k words deep and largely involves my relationship with my crazy dad and my post-college misadventures.
Let's light it up.
