Prophecy of the Kings

new

David, yours is a model site for any writer. Tons of information and lots to read. Where did you publish your books? I have a new site on the go, I'm just waiting for the domain to get registered then I'll promote like crazy where ever I can. Perhaps we can do a link exchange....

Tail wagging the dog...

new

It is a shame these days. I've noticed it as well how publishers seem to determine what and how writers create their work with the mindless attitude 'you'll write this or you won't get published'. It's unfair those who are trying to make a go of a writing career. One shouldn't be so restricted and limited at the height of their creative process. Few are as excited about writing as the first attempts. This is when one wants to write anything and everything and they do it with great enthusiasm. This isn't the time to be fitted into a niche just to get noticed. I'm not one to follow such guidelines. I've done a lot of research to hone my craft. I may not be as great right now as I may be in the future but one thing I did learn and keep to is write what feel, write what you know. I say that I will not write what the publisher wants but I will find a publisher that wants what I write. Of course, I'm rather ambitious too so instead of waiting several years, I'm just gonna try to start up my own magazine that focuses on the less restricted creative works that new and experienced writers yearn to write just to explode some pent up creative ideas. History subjects

new

I so know what you mean! I started a series that is historical/mythological/fiction, the stories are based on recorded events, myths and legends but I added a modern character who travels to the past. Plenty of research involved to get as much truth into the story as possible. The first is called Terth Willager: Age of Mythology and is soon going to Indi Publishing for editing and marketing.

book idea...

new

It has potential for some great plot twists. I can envision different story lines about how the vampire deals with the situation - lustful, jealous, infatuated with a love out of his reach, helpful in the end, spiteful and threatening to unveil the romance. I'd be interested to see how this turns out, only watch for cliches; the vampire love story is a well worn one, find a way to make it new and spontaneous. Good luck, Kevin G Hare

In my opinion, I would say if you are a writer and you are writing - anything is acceptable. Let's see if there is anything we can help you out with... Kevin G Hare

Hey there...

The self-publishing route seems to be picking up more serious consideration these days as traditional publishing seems to get more and more difficult to break into. I think the biggest question on most new writers' minds is what avenues are there for marketing the newly published book. The self-publishing houses offer some packages but we can do as authors to promote and get known? Kicking around some of these ideas would be quite enlightening....

Author's Initiative

new

Hi GreenPower, A couple of us self-published writers are organizing an initiative where we collaborate on a marketing program to get the word out about our books. There's no cost, we just organize by author and genre and a display page about your book is placed in the back of someone else's and vice versa. It's a new idea I've developed after reading many posts of folks not happy with their current sales. Send me email at krhare@xplornet.com if you wish to know more. Kevin Hare
